Only able to print a partial drawing. Drawing seems to
shift up on the page when printed by about 2 or 3 inches
resulting in the top portion of the drawing not being
printed at all. Same result on multiple drawings tested.
In all cases, Print Preview was perfect. Using brand new
HP 5650 deskjet, Brand new Dell Desktop, and XP
Professional -- even downloaded newest print driver.
Problem persists. |

Richard,
We are currently investigating some printing issues with Visio 2003, related
to certain printers. I'm sorry I don't have better information for you at
this point.

I am experiencing the same problem with Visio 2003 + HP Deskjet 5150: the
printout is shifted by half a page up in portrait or right in landscape on
A4 paper. Visio print preview is normal but HP print preview reflects the
problem.

While waiting for a solution, this worked for me:
0. Start Visio 2003
1. Select File --> Print, select the printer and click
[Properties...]
2. Change the print quality to a different value, click OK
3. Click [Close] (unless you want to print in that quality...)
4. You should be able to change to the desired quality and print
normally now, until you close Visio.

Worked for me too, sort of. I can't make it print in
landscape using this method and I have to change the
quality each time I print.
By the way, I have the exact same problem as the
others. I'm also using the HP5150 printer.

Is there any news of a fix to this? Or a date when a fix is expected?
Its now nearly 3 Months and I cant see it even as a known issue in the
microsoft knowledge base.
BtW you can add HP Deskjet 9300 to the list of printers with the issue

I had this same problem and fixed it today. Visio has a problem with HP printers (I guess M$ didn't test their software with the largest selling printer company in the world). You can fix the problem by installing Visio SP1. If you go through MS' site they want you to call them for it or some stupid thing, but if you perform a search on Google for "Viso SP1" or something similar you can find the download site for it.
You need your Visio CD in order to install the service pack.
EDIT: I'm using a HP PSC 2355 |
