Upgrading Visio on 64-bit Vista Ult System

Hello:

I've recently moved to Vista Ultimate...would like to install Visio 2007
Upgrade version....but

I am unable to install my Visio Pro V2002 (upgrade version) due to
requirement that the older Viso 5.0 Technical version is installed....which
is incompatible with Vista 64-bit.....and will not install.

So.....if I purchase Visio 2007 Pro or Standard Upgrade ..How does this
upgrade install "see" or validate that I own a previous version (such as
Visio 2002) ?

Does this make sense ?

It makes sense. The issue is that AFAIK there currently is not an upgrade
path from v2002 to v2007 with the exception of purchasing v2007.

is it failing to install, or is it the 'not supported message"? With xp we
normally just tell the user to ignore the message and proceed.
