Frontpage pix missing after upload

I recently uploaded a website I had created in Frontpage 2000. When I
subsequently tried to edit one of the pages, I found that all of the pictures
on all of the pages had been replaced with white boxes with a red 'x'. The
site on the web is fine, just the pages on my computer are affected. This
makes me understandably hesitant to upload any of these pages I modify. I'd
appreciate any helpful thoughts.

Did you file import the images into your FP site before using them in pages?
Are you editing the page in the open FP site (and not just the page)

I've been out of town and offline for the past few days. All of the .jpg
files are in the same folder as the web pages on my computer and seem to open
fine as individual files, just not in FP. The website on line works fine.
Also, another website I am working on but have not posted to the web (with
..jpg files and pages in a separate folder) still works fine in FP on my
computer.

I first sized the .jpg files to appear appropriately, then saved them to a
folder in 'My Webs' under the name of the website in question. I then used
the the Insert Picture command to place them on the page. I don't know if
this is technically a 'file import'. As to editing, I am attempting to edit
the individual page in question. All of the above is on my computer and not
on the web. I hope this answers Stefan's questions.

That is not the same as importing them into you site
(a folder in my webs is not the same as the web site in your my webs)
Open your site in FP
Use File Import and browse to the folder/file on your PC w/ the images to select them all
- then after they are imported
- to insert them in a page drag them from Folder List onto your page and save the page
(to replace the ones you have there now)

I have now used File Import on the folder with all of the jpeg images for the
website. When I open a page from the website, the space for the jpegs that
should appear there still exists, with a small white box with a red x in the
upper left hand corner of the space. If I right click on this spaceand click
on 'picture properties', I get the file name of the jpeg that should appear
in that space. If I try to drag the jpeg in question from the Folder List,
this is not allowed. It appears FP knows what jpeg should be there and where
it is, it just will not display it.

Did you first delete your images from the web page before importing them?
After importing your images into a folder, such as IMAGES, *then* you file |
insert picture (from the folder) onto your page and save.
