Vista does not officially support the FP SE
(if you are using them on your local PC)
There is a bug which crashes FP any time you try to insert a hyperlink in FP
- MS is working on a fix

There is a known bug where using the hyperlink dialogue will cause
FrontPage to crash. This affects many users, but not all.
Otherwise - no problems.

If you use IIS on your old computer, Vista's IIS does not support
FrontPage extensions.

Also remember that Vista Home doesn't come with IIS.

Hello, new member here
I found this site while trying to resolve the Frontpage 2000 / Vista problem too. And, I did! (thanks to all of you who made your suggestions about IIS...)
I am running Vista "Home" which came with my Gateway laptop, But I wanted to use my licensed copy of Office 2K (along with Frontpage...)
Here's some useful info...
Vista's SP1 now ships with IIS 6.0...
But... needs to be installed through the "Install Windows Components" in "Programs and Features"...
Also, the following "services" need to be set to "Automatic" start;
"World Wide Web Publishing" and "Internet Connection Sharing"...
Additionally, after installing and activating thoses features, I ran the "Repair" utility in Frontpage and I was able to edit my remote server site by going to the site in IE7 and clicking on "Edit this site with Frontpage" in the File drop down... That started Frontpage and then asked me for my user and p-work, which it accepted and allowed editing...
(Jeeze, I hate hard coding web pages and uploading with FTP!)
BTW: I'm pretty sure you'll need to repair, install or re-install Frontpage once you've installed IIS
EDIT UPDATE: I still cannot open a website directly from Frontpage... But, the open fron IE7 walk-around works just fine... RJP |
