In an external style sheet I have declared the color of h6 as #FFFF00, a
warm yellow. It shows up as the correct color in design mode. But in
preview or browser mode, it turns blood red!
The problem doesn't exist in another page in the same web. There are no
<font> tags in the code for the problem page. A search for "color" located
only innocuous things like "bgcolor." The affected text is responding to
the style sheet: if I change the color to black in the style sheet, it
changes to black in design mode, but still shows as blood red in
preview/browser mode.
What's going on here?

OK, I'm out of the woods, but I don't fully understand. I neglected to save
a change to the style sheet. As soon as I saved it, the problem
disappeared.
Perhaps someone wants to explain why that turned yellow to red?

Impossible to say without seeing the page. And now that you have fixed it,
I don't know if you can get an answer.
