spell check problem

I am running WinXP-SP2, running Office 97

Using an admin account and a limited user account.

In either account using Outlook Express, whenever I click on spell check
I get the following error

"An error occurred while the spelling was being checked."

Any help would be apprecaited (becasue I am a 2-finger typist and need spell
checker to check my typing)
