Can anyone please suggest the best way to share a set of PowerPoint slides
(just for reading) by email with a group that includes some people who do
not have any software for opening ppt files.
An additional requirement is not to make the attachment file size too large.
Thanks,
V |

You don't say which software you are using but assuming that it's
PowerPoint 2007 just email them the Presentation along with the
viewer:-
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=048DC840-1...-467D-8
If possible please rate my posting.
Thanks. |

Thanks - it's actually PP 2003 but I want to avoid the need for recipients
to have to have to install extra software such as a pp viewer. Sorry I
didn't include either point in my original post.
So I guess possible options would include a way of converting the ppt file
to some other format such as pdf or html...?

The best options, depending on the people and the situation:
* Create a PDF and send that to people. Practically all people have a PDF
reader in their computer.
* Upload the file to Google Documents, docs.google.com. The other people
only need a Web browser.

"Too large" is an expression that may mean very different things to
people... |

Most people have Acrobat ... I'd send them the PPT in PDF format.
If you have 2007 or higher, it can make PDF directly. Otherwise, there are
free or for-pay programs that'll do it for you.
If possible, put the PDF up on a web site and email the link instead of
attaching the file. Size of attachment is no longer an issue and you won't
annoy people who don't intend to read the PDF anyhow. |

There are a couple of ways, but the simplest is just saving it as a pdf and sent it to the. The advantage is that it also works for tablets as well. You can see a little demo of a powerpoint file saved as a PDF and sent to a tablet:
