to automatically print an e-mail once it arrives from a
particluar person? I can do the rule on regular outlook,
but not on OWA.

Not possible, because that's a client-side rule. OWA can
create only server-side rules.

My question is can a client-side rule be programmed for my MS Exchange Account that runs when I send messages using the OWA client? (This is an "advanced" client or whatever it is called and not OWA Light.)

Our computer people have programmed several Outlook rules for me. Three of them end up being client-side, apparently because OF Outlook "operations" involved. These rules operate on messages as they are Sent. (I've read the explanations of differences between client- and server-side rules on SlipStick, so I know something about the differences between them).

These rules work just fine when I send email messages from my Outlook CLIENT at work but not when I send them from home where I have to use the OWA CLIENT that is available to us.

Is there some way of writing client-side rules so that the rules work when messages are sent from either OWA client or the regular Outlook client.

These rules are extremely simple. They scan for a letter sequence in the outgoing message (e.g., R2U) and if the sequence is found a copy of the messages is saved to a designated folder.

Thank you.

To Sue Mosher,

The issue is this.

The computer people here at work have written an Outlook rule for my email account that copies all Sent emails with a certain character string in it ("R2U") to a folder that is within my account mailbox.

Why does this rule end up being client-side?. From what I've read from your posts and website tutorials, this rule should not end up being client-side,

EXCEPT (apparently),

if they wrote the rule using an OWA client.

Is there a way for them to write this particular rule so that it ends up being server-side?

That's my question.

Thank you.
