How do I remove undeletable horizontal lines between Word ..

To segregate some text in a long Word document I was writing, I typed short
6-7 underscored lines between sections. When I hit return, the line extended
to the end of the page. I am having touble deleting these lines. I
highlight text before and after the line, and it disappears, only to move
elsehere. No matter what I do, there are 7 of these lines distributed
throughout my text. Thanks in advance for your help...

-The trick is to select all the the paragraphs of the text and either choose
No Border.
