I have determined the steps necessary to load the PHStat2 add-in into Excel 2007.

(1) Click the Office Button (top left)
(2) Click Excel Options (bottom)
(3) Select Add-ins (right column)
(4) Click “Go” next to Manage Add-ins (bottom)
(5) Click Browse to find c:\Program Files\PHstat2\PHStat2.xla

A new “Add-Ins” tab appears top left of Excel with a PHStat2 drop down menu. This assumes that you have first loaded Analysis ToolPak and Analysis ToolPak VBA through the same process. Data Analysis will appear as the top right under the Data tab.

This worked for me. Slightly more detailed instructions follow.

  • Install PHStat software from CD.

  • Update to 2.5.2 or beyond from:
    http://www.prenhall.com/phstat/phstat2/update/Update_2_5_2.exe

  • Then install Analysis ToolPak & Analysis ToolPak VBA first:

    • Click Office Button
    • Click Excel Options (bottom)
    • Select Add-ins (right column)
    • Click "Go" next to Manage Add-ins (bottom)
    • Enable Analysis ToolPak and Analysis ToolPak VBA
    • Click Okay.
    • Restart Excel.

  • Install PHStat macro:

    • Click the Office Button (top left)
    • Click Excel Options (bottom)
    • Select Add-ins (right column)
    • Click "Go" next to Manage Add-ins (bottom)
    • Click Browse to find c:\Program Files\PHstat2\PHStat2.xla

  • An Addins tab will appear on the Ribbon menu with PHstat as a drop-down menu.

Ta-da! That's it, you're done. If it didn't work, good luck trying
to get any help out of Prentice Hall; their support website reminds me
of my 7th-grade webmastering class.
