insert text without changing background

I want to add text to a poster without changing the background of the poster
- I have tried inserting a text box - is there a way I can hide the text box
and just display the text?

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Right-click the edge of the text box and choose Format Text Box. In the
dialog, set the Fill dropdown to "No Fill" and set the line color to "No
Line".
