Word not letting me edit document

I received a simple document written in Word via email. When I open the
document I can only read or print it, I am unable to edit in anyway. The
document has no restrictions or security settings that would prevent editing.
The only problem I can see is that the document used Comic Sans MS Bold font
while I only show Comic Sand MS in word but have the bold version installed
on my system.

Can anyone do some detective work for me and see if they have any ideas?

Did you try asking the sender if they did something to prevent editing?

Tami,
I have not read all your other replys, but when I get an e mail that I want
to alter or change I just click on 'forward' and then you can edit the
document. If you don't want to send it to anyone after you have changed it,
just send it to yourself. Hope this helps. Sue
