| Last year I created a document of text boxes that I arranged as needed into a
small table for use at my job. I was able to edit it and make changes that
were needed at the time. Now, I am trying to make a few minor changes to the
file again but whenever Word tries to autosave or I save it manually, it
crashes. Why would this be?

It is partially corrupt. Several ways to sort it out...
Use the Open and Repair option (though I'm not sure if this wasn't
introduced until W2003)
Save the document in RTF format, close it, open it and SaveAs DOC again

An alternative is to go to the end of the document, insert a newparagraph, then copy paste everything except the new paragraph into
a new document,. With any luck, the new document won't suffer the corruption.

Terry, you are right in that there is no repair option in W2k.
Macropod, your result worked. As the entire document is made up of text
boxes, I was unable to insert a paragraph. But, I was able to use the
drawing toolbar to select all the boxes and copy/paste them into a new
document. I was then able to make changes and save the new version. Thank
you very much.
Now if I could only get the company to spring for a newer version of Office,
maybe all these errors I keep running into won't happen as often. |
