Virus has attaked office

Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>spelling>grammar (more info?)

word and outlool seem to have been infected with some kind of virus that
causes spell checker to change to US English all the time.
Have tried all kinds of cures, including switching off aoutodetect language.
Is this virus likly to infect anything else
Virus checker can not find anything
have tried reistalling office, but infections still creeps back in.
this virus only seems to effect microsoft products, so may have to change to
something else.
this virus only seems to be infecting microsoft word, but si still very
annoying
has anybody else been infeted with this virus.
maybe the virus righter is trying to get everyone in the world to
communicate in us english

No virus. Another Word feature! Smile

Check the actual language setting of the text being checked. Select some
text and see what the language setting is for that text. Each character can
have a different language setting. If your documents (or worse) templates
were written with the automatically detect language feature turned on, you
may have a number of different language setting built in.

It probably is not a virus, but a mismatch between the language you
set in Word and the language selected in Windows.
