As my machine is occassionally used for typing tests I need to be able to
turn Autocorrect off during these tests. I can turn autotext off through
Tools / Autocorrect Options / Autotext (tab) and then remove the check from
'Show AutoComplete suggestions'
This does not appear to stop autocorrect from working though.
Any suggestions please
I am using Word 2003
Thanks.

Despite being in the same dialog, AutoText and AutoCorrect are
different and distinct features.

In addition to turning off the AutoText suggestions, you must go to
the AutoCorrect tab of the dialog and uncheck the "Replace text as you
type" box. You should also uncheck the box at the bottom,
"Automatically use suggestions from the spelling checker".
