So, even though I made my network drive a trusted slource, my manuals that
have hyperlinks to other documents in other folders keeps popping up this
irritating message. this is a major project and I need a solution asap.

Is it a NAS device? I ask because there are many reports of problems with
Word (and other apps) connecting to NAS stored files. I suggest that you
seek support from the NAS support forum as they may have a solution.

Terry: thank you for responding. My documents "reside" within or behind an
html front end to acces them, via IE. is there a way of having the html be
trusted, because we won't be able to lower the security level of our users
who will be using these manuals from the html mask....

Not that I am aware of, but I am not an expert in that field. I think you
may get a better informed answer from an appropriate Windows Server
Networking newsgroup.
