Hello Rach,
If you select the appropriate language version, you'll see that your
spell-checker accepts colour, realise, realisation, realising, etc. You are
probably in US English mode, which explains your "problem", but you can
switch to New Zealand English as follows:
Tools --> Language --> Set Language (select English (New Zealand)).
This should solve your problem.
