Which version of Word do you have?

For which language is the custom dictionary set?

With which language is the text formatted that you're trying to add to the
dictionary?

Hi Cindy,
the version of word is 2002, the main dictionary is English (UK), and the
custom dictionary is english (Ireland)

Without the answer to the last question - the language with which the text is
formatted you're trying to add to the dictionary - we can't get any further...
