Spell Check shows proper spelling but won't let me select it

I cannot use the spell checker in Word 2007 and Outlook 2007. The spell checker works in Excel. I have tried editing the registry key's for the spell check, deleted them. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. All other Microsoft products work fine including Microsoft Works 8.5. What is going on and what can I do. I also have SP1 for Office 2007 installed[/list]
