Using Word 2002 SP2.
Spell check works on new documents but doesn't when I re-open existing
documents.

Please assist.

Thank you.

Could you be more explicit about what you mean when you say it doesn't work.

One or two particular document?

All document?

Spellcheck only works with new documents and does not work at all with any
existing documents that are re-opened for edit.
Thanks.

You say it doesn't work. How do you know? What tells you it isn't working?

If you open a saved document and at the beginning of it you type "byocpocr"
does it underline in wavy red?

How about if you do the same thing in a new document?

What happens if you press the F7 key?

That is correct. When I type byocpocr in a new doc I get the wavy red
underline but not when I try it in an existing doc. F7 doesn't work either
in an existing doc.
Is there a resolution or should I do a complete reinstall?
Thanks.

Reinstalls seldom fix problems with Word.

In one of your saved documents, select a misspelled word that is not
recognized as such. Then check the language settings under
Tools > Language > Set Language...
The option for "do not check spelling or grammar" must be unchecked.
