I have a slide show with about 150 panels. At panel #116, after clicking to
advance the next slide, the slide show abruptly comes to an end.

I have tried reopening the slide show (Shift + F5) to restart at slide #116,
but this only restarts the slide show at the beginning (panel #1).

What to do?

In SlideShow Setup, what are your "Show Slides" settings?

As Bill says check that slide show settings are for "Show All"

You could also check that:

Slides after 116 do not have an auto transition of zero secs
These slides are not marked as "Hidden"

In addition to other suggestions, it might be worth checking for file
corruption (I had this happen once with a file running from usb stick/ usb
stick not properly removed combo):

HTML "Round-tripping" to repair corruption
