Something I quite miss from Word 2003 is that I could right-click the
"Spelling and Grammar Status" icon on the status bar and hide spelling and/or
grammar errors right there.

In Word 2007 it's a three-step operation: click the Office button, go to
Options, go to Proofing, and *then* I get to the checkboxes I want.

Is there any way to shortcut this?

Well, you can add them to the QAT and/or assign a keyboard shortcut.

"File" button, Word Options, Customize. Choose "All commands" then look for
"Hide Grammar errors" and "Hide Spelling errors". Then click "Add" to put them
on the QAT. The button for creating keyboard shortcuts is in this same dialog
box.

I had the same trouble...... here's the answer

Next to the big office Icon in the top left of the screen is a quick access tool bar. On the left of this is a (very small) drop down menu that lets you customise it..... simply check the spelling a grammer box and hey presto. No moree baadley speeled ducumants Shocked
