Saved Word Docs are coming up with a blank blue screen?

I cannot access my saved documents in word. Blank blue screen comes up and
box says Microsof Office Word has stopped working

Is this just 'old' documents or are you able to open Word and create new
documents and save them. How long has this been happening?

Which version of Word and OS are you using? Have they both been updated?

Same thing is happening to me. Started in the last few days.

There are documents that are old and some that were created about a week ago.

Using Word07 and Vista. All have been updated.

Also on the "empty" documents opens - if I drag the file into the program I
can see it - but can't edit it.

Creating new documents are not a problem. However opening the new documents
results in the same problem.

If it is that recent, it suggests that something is corrupted in the
registry: you should be able to resolve this by rolling back to a restore
point previous to the the problem.

My documents are also coming up blue lately. this seems to me to be a problem world wide is this not a virus or something?

I am running latests office with all updates and windows XP with all updates
