Did you find the problem about printing equations in documents created in Word 2007.

I am an engineering student, so i often create documents with many equations. But my printer (HP PSC 2175). cant print them!!! Sad

let's take an example:

i made a document which contains 36 pages with pictures, equations and so on.

1st i printed the entire document, and the equtions were not printed.

2nd when i discovered that the equations not was printed, i tried only to print a specific page (page 12 of 36) - the equations were still not printed Sad

3rd i copied the content of page 12 to a new document, and tried to print page 12 from the new document - THE EQAUTIONS WERE PRINTED!!!

4th i copied the entire document (36 pages) to the new created document - again the equations were not printed.

- What is wrong?

- is it my printer, or is it word2007?

greetings BH
- what can i do to solve this strange problem

Greetings 2 u 2 Very Happy

If you haven't solved your problem yet, try to save your whole document in Word 97-03 Format (Compatibility Mode). That worked, just fine, for me.
Note: You might (after conversion) notice some different font quality, after you have printed it. It IS NOT visible while you work in your doc. (ON SCREEN)...

I think that helped...

P.S. I think this problem isn't connected to any printer, but with Windows XP (I use SP2)! I can't tell if it works just fine with Vista crap, but it might be, for it is much better optimized for that "resource-eater". Twisted Evil

Hi All,

Just thought I'd add my two pence on this...

We have the same problem here with printing equations in Word 2007. We are an engineering consultancy so use the equation features a lot.

We are using different printers again (Dell 5100cn & Lexmark W812) so I think the model of printer can be ruled out.

As for the Vista suggestion, I can confirm that opening the same document using Vista Business with Word 2007 will print the equations fine. (The combination that fails is WinXP Pro and Word 2007).

Seems to be nothing from Microsoft on this as yet.

The closest KB article I've found is this:
But its not describing the same issue.

The only workarounds I've come across so far are:

a) Upgrade to Vista business!! Rolling Eyes

b) Save in Word 97-2003 Format as suggested by Antrophin3, however in my experience this seems to turn the equations to images so they can't be re-edited.

c) Use the 'Save as PDF' add-in to generate a pdf, then print the pdf generated from within your pdf viewer. (This only seems to work using the Add-in, NOT from printing using Adobe distiller, CutePDF or PDF Creator)

None of these are really acceptable fixes, if anyone else has found a better solution please post it here.

Thanks in advance.

The problem appears to be related to having pictures and equations on the same page. I had multiple pages of equations and only one page didn't print, but that page had a picture also. With the picture deleted they all printed.

I know that this reply probably not going to help the original author of the post, but it might be helpful information for someone else. I have also created a fairly complicated document in Word 07 that includes graphics and equations that will not print. I saved it as an earlier version, but was not happy with the effects on the equations (saving as pictures). I found that if you add in Equation Editor 3.0 (which is part of the Office package, you just have to install it) then type your equations, it works great. Unfortunately, if your paper is already typed, like mine, you will have to go back and redo the equations with Equation 3.0. It's a pain, but I now know not to use the Word Equation.

Equation 3.0 can be installed by going to add/remove programs, Microsoft, Office 07, Change, then I think the office tools section. Check equation 3.0 run from my computer and then it will be installed. I am still learning 07, so I am not sure how to make inserting an equation any easier than Insert Object, and then scroll down to Microsoft Equation 3.0

I hope this helps least until the problem is fixed.

Microsoft office is the most stupid word processing program I have ever seen. I think I am going to regret using it for a whole life time.
The equations in MS word 2007 can not be printed when you have a picture in the same page! Isn't it stupid!? Shocked

just read through your replies but wasn't keen on converting to .doc or pdf.

Microsoft now published a work-around on their website that worked fine for me:
Click Start, and then click Run
Type intl.cpl, and then click OK.
Click the Languages tab.
Under Supplemental language support, click to select the Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai) check box.
When you receive the following message, click OK to close the message:
"You chose to install the Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, ..."
Click OK to close the Regional and Language Options dialog box.

Slightly bizarre solution, but it works!
