Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with a database query in Excel 2003. In my setup, several frontend workbooks query a common database file (imported with the "New database query" function) on a network drive, which is also an Excel workbook. This works fine in principle. However, when the database workbook happens to be openend for Read/Write access on another workstation while the query (background refresh) takes place, Excel automatically opens the database as ReadOnly/Notify on the querying workstation for executing the query, which is normally not supposed to happen. This is kind of annoying because the database has to be manually closed by the user of the querying workstation.
Has anyone noticed this effect and happens to know of a way to avoid it?`
Thanks for your help.
Stephan
