Archived from groups: microsoft>public>excel>datamap (more info?)

I have developed an query through Microsoft Query that returns external
data to a spreadsheet through the Get External Data features. It is set
to refresh the data every time the spreadsheet file is opened. Using
Excel 2000, the data is simply overwritten with the refreshed data which
is how I want it to work.

However, using Excel 2003, opening the same file, the new data is
inserted to the left of the old data, moving all the old data to columns
on the right along with the headers and autofilters that I have set up.
This also happens if the refresh buttons are used instead.

I can't find a setting which overwrites instead of inserts columns.
There is plenty of manipulation of rows, but not column settings. If
anyone knows anything, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks for your help,
Todd
