Permanently Delete

For some reason I have not seen anything of my previous attempts to post
this question - so a last go.

Outlook 2000 -
Is it possible to change a setting so that deleting a message
permanently deletes it rather than moving it to the deleted items bin?

I don't have Outlook 2000 in front of me (I don't maintain VMs that go back
that far) but if you go to Tools | Options | Other | Advanced(?) you will
probably find a setting that's relevant.

If we tell you, do you swear under a soul-damnation oath not to return
here to whine about how to recover the items that you permanently
deleted?

No setting needed. Just include the Shift key when you hit delete; that
is, use Shift+Del to permanently delete the selected items.

Thanks for the reminder about that one. Unforunatly the problem is with
the PC at work that the boss uses. He deletes all the spam one by one
and then screams because he finds "another" load in the deleted items
folder that he "has" to delete one by one.!!!!!

He cannot understand the concept of a deleted items of recycle folder
and using right click and "empty bin" is far to complicated for him to
manage. Empty on exit helps a bit. He wipes vital emails and documents
anyway so a change in setting would not make much difference. It would
just mean we didn't have to listen to so much shouting and swearing.

Does your boss also go dumpster diving for donuts at coffee break time?
Why is your boss dumpster diving so often in the Deleted Items folder?

By the way, for this whiner boss who can't manage to even bother going
to his local public library to read a Dummies book on Outlook, you might
want to disable the option in Outlook to prompt when doing a permanent
delete.

Why isn't the company mail server filtering out all the spam?

Because it shows up as containing messages. He does not understand that
they are the same messages!

The other boss cannot understand that you can go direct to an url and
don't have to type it into Google first.

Because that sort of thing costs money. Because given their levels of
technical wizardry they seem to have missed spam filtering in their IT
plans somehow.
