Archived from groups: microsoft>public>outlook>interop (more info?)

Sporadically during the day I get the following messages in event viewer:

Event ID 26
Connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server has been lost. Outlook will
restore the connection when possible.

This error is followed immediately by:

Event ID 26
Connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server has been restored.

Our problem is when it disconnects for that split second if someone is in
the middle of created a new e-mail or sending and e-mail we have to close
outlook and reopen it for it to work.

Any suggestions.

Thanks
Kim

Were you able to get a solution to your problem? I'm experiencing the same problem.

I experienced a similar issue, we have 4 Exchange 5.5 servers in a Windows NT 4.0 domain, as well as a 2003 Exchange server in an AD domain. I was bombarded with calls early morning that users could not get into their mail)NT 4.0 doman only). I checked and sure enough the Outlook client was "trying to connect to the exchange server" yet the exchange servers were all active, and available. It seems whatever caused this only effected the "authentication" between the Outlook client and Exchange server, as all other "domain" resources worked (shares, printers etc..) So I am curious what could have been happening on the network that would have effected the connection from a client to to all my Exchange 5.5 servers? No error logs on server, just the event id 26 on the client. I am investigating whether if someone was trying some "active" probing as it only lasted about 30 mins. then all was well.
