Outlook 2003 SP2, all updates
WinXP Pro SP2, all updates
1GB RAM

I've been having some significant issues with spam on one, and only one, of
my email addresses for a user. All other users with the same configuration
work fine. We also use Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and Win2K3 SBS SP1 (not SR2).
Are there any services on WinXP Pro SP2 that are related to Outlook 2003?
Are there any system configuration services or Startup programs that need to
be set to 'running' (not stopped)? [msconfig areas?]

I'm done a web search on Outlook spam not working and thus far nothing that
has been suggested, including http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/fix_junk.htm,
has worked.
I'm open to ANY suggestions or ideas as this has me baffled!
TIA

Does the email profile have cached mode turned on?

Sorry for the delay....
I checked and the profile HAD this turned ON. I turned it off and brought
down Outlook and brought it back up. No change. So, I rebooted. No change.
Now what?
TIA!

Cached mode definitely needs to be on for Outlook 2003/7's junk email engine
to work. When you say it doesn't work, you mean that nothing gets moved to
the folder even though filtering is set to high and all that jazz?

For server side filtering, can you have the user logon to Exchange 2003's
OWA and go to the options section. Scroll down to the privacy and junk
email settings and make sure junk filtering is turned on.

Thanks for the response!
Again, FYI: Outlook 2003 SP2 and Exchange Server 2003 SP2; Windows 2003 SBS
SP 1 (not SR2)

Outlook 2003 setup:
Cached Exchange mode is checked

Outlook Web Access setup:
Under Options, I have the Filter Junk Email checkbox checked.

Yes, NOTHING gets filtered. Since the initial posting and attempting to
look at some things, I've noticed that my own email filtering works properly
does NOT show the email messages downloaded to the Outlook 2003 Inbox email
when I log into OWA. [That is, once the message is downloaded to Outlook
2003, I can't see it in OWA.]
However, the user who's filtering doesn't work can still see ALL Inbox email
from Outlook or OWA.

How do I check this? Is this related?
TIA!!!!! Smile

What you are describing here is the difference of having mail delivered to a
personal folders file vs exchange mailbox. If paying for Exchange, ideal
place of delivery is exchange mailbox.

Out of curiosity, do you use SBS's POP3 connector to get mail into Exchange?
(In which case, Exchange's IMF doesn't work at all.)

I submitted somethign on this under General topics... but I had the same problem and found that it was because I had installed Visio 2007 (trial version). If you have any Office 2007 products installed it might be the problem.

I uninstalled Visio and mine was working properly again. Go figure!
