Office 2000 needs to 'install' before every new document

I have recently had to reinstall Office 2000. Everything works well, it's just that when I try to open a document it wants to install something and I need the install disk. I don't remember how I fixed it before.

Also, I cannot install the SP3 update for Office 2000. For whatever reason it fails to download with no explanation why.

I can deal with the lack of update, but having to keep the install disk around is irritation since I never had to before.

Any ideas?

not entirely sure how or why, but I managed to update normally and it doesn't ask for the disk anymore....

I think the same whatever happened before, but I sure don't know what it was. At least the problem is solved.
