Hallo Font Group
I just got a new PC with Vista
Can anyone tell me :
What fonts is A MUST HAVE ?
I have got a new Computer and am trying to make some changes -
My system is now Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Mail.
I was wondering what fonts I might erase without any problems,
and what fonts I MUST KEEP, because the PC use it for Windows Mail, Internet
Explorer 7
I have all fonts on back up CD - And have not erased anyone yet.
But there is some fonts I personal never use for documents -
And I just want to get a more "clear" fontlist in Windows Mail and Words
Only with the fonts I use (+The fonts I must keep for the System - even
though I personal do not use them)
And I have other fonts, who look different from each others I use now and
then - Jokermann, Medusa, akaPotsley and others.
I have read that Calibri is used lot in Vista. Is it correct? (I will not
erase it, I am just asking)
Also I read that all fonts with Red are a must.
Also any fonts with MS or Microsoft.
I have Ariel, Courier, Georgia, Impact, Times New Roman, Verdana, Tahoma,
Marlett (What is that used for?)
Webdings, Symbol
Can I erase anyone of them - Or must I keep them all?
I never write in Arabic, Chinese, Hebron, Russian, Polish - But I sometimes
see things on the Internet from many different countries,
who use those letters on the Internet Site - Newspapers for example. (And I
will keep all the fonts for that use, because I want to be able to
see all sorts of language - Even though I do nor understand it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I erase all those fonts I have written on the list below...
Or is there some I must keep on the PC ?
I will do just what you advise me to do !

My article at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/DeleteFontsSafely.htm
addressed this for earlier versions of Word/Windows, but note that if you
have Word 2007, the templates are based on several new fonts, all beginning
with C: Calibri, Consolas, Cambria, Constantia, Corbel, and Candara. In
addition, Segoe UI is the new interface font for Windows and Office. See
http://blogs.msdn.com/jensenh/archive/2005/12/07/501009.aspx for more.

Marlett (What is that used for?)
Marlett contains the symbols used by the windows interface, including
the three buttons (minimize, fullscreen/window, and exit) at the upper
right hand corner of every window, the scroll bar triangles that you
click on to scroll, and a few others. DO NOT delete it!!
The reason why MS started with, and continues to use, a font for those
functions is beyond me. I suppose one could then replace Marlett with
"design-your-own" buttons, but I doubt that that was ever in MS's
thoughts!
