Images don't appear in Microsoft Word 2000

Graphs/charts/objects don't appear when I view through "normal view" -- they
can only be seen if I view them through "print layout" -- this is very
frustrating -- as I can't make any edits - I have Windows XP and Word Version
2000.

Try Tools | Options | View Tab | Uncheck Use Picture Placeholders

Hi PKW,

Any picture object that has been formatted with a layout
style other than in-line-with text appears only in the
Print Layout and Weblayout views.

Normal view is for quick text editing. It doesn't represent
how the page is laid out.

Normal view will only show images in the text plane i.e. inserted in line.
Normal view is not meant to represent the finished document.

Thanks for your reply, however, that didn't work. Any other suggestions?
Could I need the print drivers re-installed?

Hi PKW,

It's unclear what 'didn't work', as you replied to
your own message rather than either of the replies
you receive. If the graphics are
not formatted as 'inline with text' they will not appear in Normal view.

These posts are old but I have been having the same problem. I must save the image to my HD and then insert it. It does show in the Read Layout but that skews everything else. This started more recently than 2005 - less than a year ago. I have been accepting it but do not understand why. Pictures and photos that formerly showed up in old documents do not show now. I believe this is a change made to Vista. It is more than frustrating. I am aggravated to anger by it. Pls don't feed me the same line that was given the first commenter (Control the things you can and Don't Worry about the things you can't control.)
