I'm an IT consultant. One of my customer was using MS Office 2000 (German)
with the four available proofing tools (German,French,Italian and English)
installed. Everything was fine.
Lastely (and typically under the pressure of other external users working
with the latest MS Office versions), they wanted to "upgrade" to Office XP
2003.
Well, I did the update... and now, a simple and stupid text file of 4
sentences like those following is no more correctly checked (grammar!):
Ich bin nocht gewöhnt, selbst wann ich bin gekommen
Is it a goot solution for you and an staff exceptional!
Pensa che qesto e la soluzione a nostre problemi.
Ceci est un vré pari que de sortir avec ma amie !
Each line is set to the appropriate language, the obviously false words
(nocht, goot, qesto and vré) are correctly underlined in "red".
The grammar checker are recognizing "an staff" (a staff) for the english
sentence and "ma amie" (mon amie) for the french one... and it's all!
Office 2000 was, at least, able to see that "wann ich bin gekommen" must be
written "wenn ich bin gekommen" in German and that "nostre problemi" is not a
correct Italian concordance: should be "nostri problemi"
I don't thing that there is a fix for this kind of "downgrades": it simply
very unprofessional from Microsoft to release (and earn money) with
insufficiently tested software!
