Exit Design Mode when opening a document (Word 2002)

Hello,

I am using textboxes in a Word document. Everything is working fine except
that everytime I do open my document, I have to Exit Design Mode.

Is there a way to be automatically NOT into Design Mode when opening an
existing document ?

Are the textboxes formfields as used in a document that is protected for
forms? or ActiveX controls, that are probably not really intended to be used
directly in a document?

A document opening in design mode is also a symptom of the document
containinig (or having at one time contained) macros. Eliminating that
behaviour can be overcome by saving the document as an RTF file, closing it
and then reopening it and saving it as a Word document. Doing that however
will probably necessitate that you re-insert the text boxes.

Thank you! By saving my word doc as an .rtf and then saving it back to a .doc, I FINALLY got rid of the annoying little EDM box! It's been bugging me for at least a year! Just found this solution today.
