Hello,

Using excel 2007 when clicking an spreadsheet icon whether it was made in
office 2007 or 2003 excel opens up but does not display the spreadhseet, to
get it to display you must click the restore down or restore up button the
the sheet displays. This is happeneing on a few of our machine here at work.
I did look thru som other posts about unchecking the ignore other
applications but that has not worked and when i try in excel.exe /safe it
does not let me get to the advanced options to try and changed it there any
suggestions ?

I have the same problem Phil. When I click on a saved workbook (most of mine
are now of the 2003 version) - I get a blank Excel 2007 window and eventually
- maybe 2 minutes later, the workbook opens. I found a 'fix' in some group on
the net that suggested adding "%1" (including quotation marks) to the end of
the open command in the Tools/Folder Options/File Types/Advanced area of
Explorer. That seems to work, but, now after they open quicker, as soon as I
click in the spreadsheet, I get an error message that says it is already open
and asks if I want to open a second version of the file.

Kinda frustrating - I don't mess with stuff - just use it out of the box -
it seems the file types stuff should be standard.

I am using XP-Pro SP2

Can anyone help??

Thanks,
AGS

I'm afraid I don't have the solution, only the same problem. I made a
seperate folder & placed my most used workbooks in it & changed to settings
to "open all workbooks in folder" & they seem to open immediately, but they
ALL open, which creates another problem. This problem is only for users of
Windows XP evidently. I have another machine running Vista & 2007 Excel opens
the designated workbook, folder, as it should.

right click save as 97-2003 worksheet.

then re open using either gdocs or better openoffice (free download). Then at least you can copy and paste the information again.
