And I take it you don't want to be spell checking Portuguese?
The text has been formatted in this language, but the proofing tools aren't
installed. Select the text, then choose the correct language from
Tools/Language/Set language.
Or, if you want Portuguese, but don't want to buy the proofing tools (you'll
send it somewhere else to get the Portuguese checked), disable that language
in the Office tools (Program files).
If the problem is that Word is formatting everything in Portuguese, and you
don't want that, see the article in the Tips section of my website on how Word
