Edit Links Dialog in Word 2007

Thanks for your response.
The document format is the new .docx format. I have done Insert.Link only.
You are right about switching between field code and result, I am not able
to see the filename except in the context menu Size.Alt Text

Is their a better way to insert Links which functions correctly or is this a
bug in the graphics engine we have to live with? I would like to switch back
to old format since compatibility brings in a whole baggage of headaches for
developers and users.

Below I meant I would prefer to have the document in the .docx format if
possible. I tried saving it in .doc format and reloading it and the ordering
of the links in the dialog box and the focus is right. The new graphics
engine is the problem. Is Ole Links still the way to go or is there some
other way to do it right in the new format?

Hi Jayawanth,

If you're replacing the source (the picture) you can right click on a picture and choose the Change Picture choice added to Word in
2007, or if you know the name of the linked graphic source file you can double click on the line with that name in the Links (Alt,
E, K) dialog to bring up the 'change source' menu for a specific figure in a DocX file.

The links are likely listed in reverse order of appearance in document (last listed on top).

The .docx file is a zipped collection of elements and you could edit/replace outside of Word, the linked file names and paths in the
Word.document.xml.rels file in the .docx file

It may also be possible for one of the macro folks to post a macro that can locate and display in a dialog the inserted pictures so
you could replace them.

I have more than 500 pictures in the document and they are organized into a
directory structure. The Change Picture from the context menu of the picture
is taking me to the Insert Picture Dialog with the default directory listed.
It does not select the filename to the current picture and hence I do not
have any clue about the location of the picture in my large directory
hierarchy for picture files.
