All,

Following a “transient” of an unknown nature, I can no longer drag-and-drop
attachments onto Outlook e-mails that I compose. The process fails with the
following explanation: “Out of memory or system resources. Close some
windows or programs and try again.” However, I can still add attachments
using the menu bar 'paperclip' method. I much prefer the drag 'n drop
technique.

I'm using XP-Pro with SP2 and MS Office 2003 (with SP2). I've tried to
'repair' MS Office using the feature found in the “Add or Remove Programs”
without success.

The “transient” mentioned above resulted in a BIOS being garbled enough so
that it didn't recognize my D-drive where Outlook's PST file lived.
Interestingly enough, Outlook reconfigured to build a PST file on my
desktop. I was able to recovered the D-drive intact after re-flashing the
BIOS to the current version recommended by ASUS. But the above Outlook
attachment problem persists.

Any recommendations?

Try creating a new profile via Control Panel | Mail | Show Profiles.

Ms Fiorello,

Didn't work. I deleted my original profile and cycled out of and then back
into OUTLOOK. I then rebuilt my profile with the same name as before.
Unfortunately the problem persists. Do you have anything else for me to
try?

What about if you use a different profile name? A lot of Outlook files are
tied to a certain profile name, and if they're corrupted, using the same
profile name again won't help.

This doesn't sound right to me. When you create a new mail profile in
Control Panel, Outlook should be closed already. What you relate sounds
more like you deleted the account inside of Outlook and then stopped and
restarted Outlook, which is not what Jocelyn said to do.
