Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>customization>menustoolbars (more info?)

I recorded a macro and assigned it to a tool bar button. I placed the new
button near the end of the tool bar. For some reason when I close Word and
reopen it, the button does not stay, it's gone. I can go back into the
"Customize" dialog and put it back, but I'd prefer that it is alway there.
How can I fix this?

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

If you didn't choose another location, Word is saving (or trying to save)
the customization in normal.dot. Apparently, something is preventing the
template from being saved. (A common culprit is/was Adobe 7; see
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.word.docmanagement/bro..._thread
and http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm.)

You can force it to save by holding Shift as you click the File menu;
you will then see the Save All command. Click it and, if asked to save
normal.dot, choose to do so.
