I have been copying web pages and pasting them into word blank documents to
file in folders in windows explorer. Sometimes when I copy I cannot paste to
a blank word document- the hour glass just keeps going and the task manager
indicates that Word is not responding. Some problem files have been:
C:\...\My documents\1.rtf
C:\Documents and Settings\...\Doc5.doc
C:Documents and Settings\...\Doc6.doc
C:\...\My Documents\Docnothing.doc
These all represent blank pages that resulted when Word failed to respond.
Could anyone tell me how to get rid of such pages? Troubles often result
when I get Normal.doc too. Thanks, Sam

When I try to delete some files I get an error message that cannot delete
because document is open in Word - even although the document is not open.
Any suggestions?

Do you have Preview open in Windows Explorer? You can delete a file that's
being previewed.

If not, then there will be abandoned temp locking files in your temp folder.
It location depends on your OS and version of Word which you didn't share
with us.

That should have said, "Do you have Preview open in Windows Explorer? You
can NOT delete a file that's being previewed."
