Hi Simon,

What method did you use for recovering the documents?

If you turn on [x] Confirm Conversions at Open in
Tools=>Options=>General and open the file through File=>Open
what format does Word think the file is now?

The Word .doc format is a very complex binary file
and it doesn't take a lot to break one Smile

To repair your word document you can use Stellar Word Recovery. Word Recovery Software is designed to recover and repair corrupted Microsoft Word documents. This advanced document-repair program restores damaged Word files after instances of virus attacks, unexpected system shutdown, media read error, and so on.
To try and test the software you can download the demo version from
http://www.stellarinfo.com/word-recovery.htm
Demo version shows the recovered word document it doesn't allow you to save the data unless you registered for the full version.

According to me its a powerful tool which uses powerful algorithms to perform complete and thorough scans of Word documents to extract as much recoverable data as possible.

Can try this utility hope you succeed in recovering your data.

Hi,

You may try other kinds of tools to repair your file. I know one called Advanced Word Repair. This tool is rather useful in salvaging damaged Word documents. You can just try the free demo. Hope this helps.
