I'm working in a W2K/Office 2003 environment and am not able to customize my
toolbar in Word. I'm able to customize my Outlook, Excel, and PPT ones, but
not this one. I've gone through the KB and looked for the fixes and have
tried them all (renaming Normal.dot, renaming the registry entries, logging
in as an admin, removing and reinstalling Word) but none of them have worked.
Is there something that I'm missing? If you have any ideas, I'd be happy to
hear them!

Can't customize or can't save customizations?

Sorry about that. I can customize the toolbar fine but when I close Word,
the changes don't save.

If you have Acrobat 7 installed, see the last section of this page:

Hi. Thanks - that's a great link.
I tried the one in Control Panel - changed Acrobat so it doesn't come up in
Outlook.
In Excel, when I customize toolbars and uncheck the Adcrobat toolbar, when I
next opened Excel I got an error message (twice) but only that time - fixed.
In Word there is an Acrobat menu. It doesn't work - it's still there but
the buttons don't work. Any ideas.
I am still figuring out what method to use to avoid the toolbar in Word
(all my toolbars are at the bottom of the screen, and the Acrobat one always
appears at the top on it own) (I don't mind the menu).

Ah, somehow the toolbar is not coming up in Word now - just need to try to
get the Acrobat menu functionality back if you can suggest anything, please.

Ha! Having found another post that pointed to
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/330/330984.html
I tried Help - About - Disabled Add-ins and Enabled the Adobe one.
That caused some "serious errors".

I renamed my Normal.dot and hey presto, everything's back and working.
Now I have to put all my Normal.dot stuff back as I like it...

It is the early version of Acrobat 7 that is problematical with Word. If you
apply the updates available for that version, it works fine.
You cannot have the fulll functionality available from Acrobat if you
disable the add-in. If you do that you may as well save your money and
install a free clone like PrimoPDF.

Set your Word toolbars to display on two rows and park the adobe toolbar at
the end of one or other row. It takes up half an inch of toolbar space.
