Help!

No problems with Vista home unless I'm using Word. Cursor flashes between busy and normal. This is on a desktop, not laptop. It also types very slowly. I have run both antivirus and malware scans, both are clean. HELP!

PS - I also have problems in Wordpad, but not with cursor. The choose font window flickers and opens and closes.
