Archived from groups: microsoft>public>word>conversions (more info?)

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm posting this question in the correct forum as there
doesn't seem to be a forum for specific Adobe Acrobat questions.

I'm new tou sing Acrobat other than just simply viewing files. I'm using
Acrobat 6.0 Standard with Office 2003 on a XP machine.

I'd like to know how to convert files to pdf format where the pdf then
allows users to click on hyperlinks and embedded objects. I've managed to
work out how to get the hyperlinks working, but if another Word document is
embedded into a Word document, then this converted to pdf format, I'm unable
to click the embedded document. For example, DocA contains DocB as an
embedded file. I then convert DocA to pdf format. When I view the pdf I can't
click on the DocB file I've embedded.

Can anyone please help me with this?

You probably want to post this in the Adobe Acrobat newsgroup. Not many
people have Acrobat loaded on their system. ( I do but I've never done what
you're talking about.)

Thanks for responding JoAnn. As I mentioned in my initial post, I can't find
a newsgroup for Adobe Acrobat. I'd appreciate if you could point me in the
right direction please.

You can go in thru www.adobe .com or your ISP may even carry it.

Although I am not 100% sure, I fear this is impossible, because a pdf
document cannot contain another embedded pdf document.
If you want a link that opens another pdf document, you would have to
supply the linked document as a separate file and have a link in your
first word file that points to the second word file.

I stumbled across your question while I was looking for a solution to the same problem. The answer to your question is found at the following:

http://www.pdfzone.com/article2/0,1895,1851567,00.asp

It says: "No, but you can store the original file in the PDF itself, using the "Attachment" Comment tool or the "Embedded objects" menu item. –JR Boulay"

I tried this and it worked great! I realize my reply is a couple years late, but maybe it may help someone in the future.
