Hi All,

I was just reading the other thread about sending tc from cam to 744
and was wondering...

Would it work if i sent tc from 744 to tx and then have 2 cams
(panasonic p2) each with a rx into the tc in?

Would i use free run TOD? The shots are only short - 2 or 3 minutes at
most. I dont have lockit boxes.

Thanks

Dave

Do the cameras have an ext TC input? Sending TC only to a video
camera w/o sync can sometimes result in picture problems
visible only on playback--I would be careful with this. Depending on
how tight a sync your client demands (many docs just need "close", not
"frame edge") you could just jam sync the cameras fairly often. But I
think a better option is to let the camera be the master (in free-run)
and send the TC to your recorder on a wireless. (This works for
record run too.)

no problem , even the tc lost the cameras will continue with self tc
generators in free run

not really , every battery change or shut down on cameras usually
change the drift , its always better sync them from other source . so
sending tc to camera its always better solution in perspective to
your sound devices .

Yes really. In practice we have done quite a lot of shooting with
occasional jams--
As I said, this is for situations where "close" is ok, as opposed to
"frame-edge"
sync. Many multicam docs are shot with cameras that have no TC i/o at
all,
so this is the sort of sync we do and it works out fine, given that
the posties
will have to correct the sync even if the frame edges were aligned to
start with.

Thanks very much for the advice gents

Though my plan came to a halt as my old spare wireless (sony) doesnt
seem to transmit the tc properly anyway...

Could that be because TC is a robust line level signal, and the SONY
will only allow a mic level signal? Can you say, PAD? I have had to
do it many times...
