"If only one of Charles Chaplin's films could be preserved, City Lights
would come the closest to representing all the different notes of his
genius." -Roger Ebert

A mesmerizing combination of comedy and pathos that could only be achieved
by the great Charlie Chaplin, the charming film City Lights depicts the
famous Little Tramp character as he courts a blind flower girl (Virginia
Cherrill) who cannot judge him by his appearance. The film's hilarious
antics delight, while the heartrending finale has been called "one of the
most hauntingly beautiful scenes put on film." (Los Angeles Times). (Charles
Chaplin, 1931, 87 min.)

General public $6.00 / UCSB Students $5.00

Films presented by UCSB Arts & Lectures, sponsored by the Santa Barbara
Independent, KCSB 91.9 FM, Blue Agave and ACTIEF. A&L Summer Cinema is
