Just watched Spiderman 3 and what a great movie for visual effects. Is there
anything better in this department? The majority of these effects were
nothing short of unbelievable and just what can be done with a blue screen
and computer is mind boggling. Well done to those departments. Was this shot
on Super 35mm as the quality of the print was superb?

Director Sam Raimi is deservedly being praised with this full on adventure
(although nothing in it is believable but who cares if you enjoy fantasy
adventure and stunning visual effects). The absence of annoying grain was a
welcome relief after the horrid so called "art" I witnessed in 300. However
I still believe it was a poor print of that particular film as there was no
way it could be described as art.

Considering Sam was given an 8mm movie camera by his father when a young
lad, directing was obviously his passion. In 1979 I believe he wrote and
directed his first feature, "The Evil Dead" which was later released in
1983. In 1985 his first film appearance was in "Spies Like Us".

Sam turns 48 later this year, he has the runs on the board (he has in the
past, acted and produced movies and television series and now having
directed all 3 Spiderman movies starting in 2002) and I wish him every
success. Bring on Spiderman 4.

LOL.........Too True. I will wait until 300 is available on DVD (BluRay of
course) and then check if the cinema really did have a bad print of the
film.

Shot on Super 35mm Kodak negative by cinematographer Bill Pope, and the 4K DI
was color-timed by Stephen Nakamura at Technicolor's new facility at Sony
Pictures, Culver City.

Grain was controlled through plug-ins in Shake, Smoke, and other software
