Many seats are still available for "An Evening of Dance" community
concert which will held at 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 30, at the
University of Saint Mary of the Lake Auditorium Theater in Mundelein.
All proceeds from the concert will go to toward the restoration of the
1925 Stoughton fire truck donated to the Village of Mundelein by
George Cardinal Mundelein.
Mundelein Assistant Village Administrator Mike Flynn said so far about
300 seats of the 800 seat auditorium have been sold.
"We have a lot more tickets available. It will be a very interesting
evening -- of music and history," he said.
Old-time organ
Flynn said the concert will include a variety of vocal and
instrumental music. Music also will be performed on the Mundelein
Theater Organ, a 1920s era theater organ originally housed in the
Chicago Theater.
"We have several different organists playing the organ and we have a
couple of different vocalists performing," said Flynn.
Performing will be Mary Ann Betty, a Chicagoland soloist; Mary Teresi,
a soloist with St. Mary of the Lake; accompanying Irish violinists;
the Antioch Brass Quintet; and Fred Vipond, pianist with St. Mary of
the Annunciation Church.
Following the music, a silent Laurel and Hardy movie titled "Liberty"
with be shown, with organ music playing in the background.
"It's a beautiful venue," said Flynn. "It's a classic auditorium and
theater. It will be a fantastic experience. It will be a once-in-a-
lifetime experience."
General admission is $20 and reserved seats are $30. Flynn said
tickets will likely be available the evening of the event, but he
encourages individuals to purchase in advance because there are
limited amount of tickets available, particularly for reserved
seating.
Tickets are available at the Mundelein Village Hall. Cocktails will be
served on the lawn before the show with prelude music by the M4 Brass
Quartet. For further information, contact the Village Hall at (847)
