Pitman theater plans tribute

Thursday, August 2, 2007

The Broadway Theatre in Pitman is hosting "A Tribute to South Jersey Movie
Palaces" at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22. The evening features the classic 1916 Charlie
Chaplin silent film "Behind the Screen" with an organist from the South
Jersey Theatre Organ Society.

Brent Donaway's "The Grand Old Lady" will also be shown. The documentary
traces the history of the historic Westmont Theatre.

Theater historian Allen Hauss will present rare pictures and the stories of
some of South Jersey's grand movie houses. Prior to the event, Hauss will
conduct a 6 p.m. tour of the Broadway. The tour is limited to 25 and
includes refreshments.

Tickets are $8 for the film program and $12 for the film and tour. Tickets
are available only at the Broadway Theatre box office, 43 S. Broadway,
Pitman. There are no phone orders.
