Does anyone know when the Pioneer BDP-LX 70 is to be released?
Pioneer's web site says June 07
Magazine's I've read says June 07
JB Hifi Told me Mid July, but now it's September
Anyone got the inside word?
Rgds
Simon. |

$2000 for a blu ray player is a bit rich considering its not even hdmi
1.3 like the latest Ps3 consoles which play blu ray and at a fraction
of the price.
I have a Samsung lcd 46" one of the newer ones along with a basic 19"
for the kids room.
The 46" using a Ps3 with blu ray is out of this world.
My mate bought early and has the Samsung blu ray player and a older
Samsung lcd and the colours are no where near as sharp as what I get
on my ps3.
My next purchase will be a blu ray burner so that I can place my hd
recordings onto blu ray to watch at a later date.

That's probably because he hasn't done the firmware upgrade on the Samsung
player.
Apparently earlier production models had a noise reduction function in the
Genesis chip enabled which softens the image considerably and mutes the
colours slightly. Installing the updated firmware solves this problem.

Its to do with the samsung bdp1000 only having hdmi 1.2 and his
samsung lcd only being hdmi 1.2 too.
Massive difference between hdmi 1.2 and 1.3
He has the latest firmware but on moving/rolling or fast scenes there
are jaggered edges where on my ps3 on my samsung 46" there are no
jaggered edges on the same scenes and the colours look much more real. |

I don't think PQ has much to do with different implementation of HDMI, I
have playstation 3
and I can assure you that I have a video processor that only have HDMI 1.2,
the picture quality
is superior with my PS3 through my video processor than plugging PS3
straight to my projector...
